ACCESS STATEMENT FOR CHANNEL VISTA GUEST HOUSE

Introduction

We are a family run guesthouse with 6 en suite rooms.  We offer bed and breakfast and also evening meals if ordered at the time of booking the room.

We aim to please and therefore our rooms are flexible, we can offer  family rooms, doubles, singles and twins.

Pre-Arrival

·         You can contact us by telephone or email – our email will give directions to our car park.

·         Public transport – Bus from Barnstaple via Ilfracombe stops opposite the house and runs frequently in the

           summer.  The nearest railway station is at Barnstaple.

Arrival and Car Parking Facilities

·         Our car park is at the rear of the house.  Turn at sign “Bay View” and then turn right to come behind the

           houses.  Our car park is approx  30 meters on the right and is clearly marked.  We have 6 parking spaces.

·         The front door of the house is approached from the main road.

·         Both the rear and front doors are illuminated during hours of darkness.

·         Assistance with luggage can be provided.

Entrances and Reception

·         The rear door of the property is on the first floor.  An intercom is fitted.  There is one shallow step leading down to the

           rear door and a handrail is provided.   The door width is 32 inches (81cm)

·         Inside the house there are a further 3 shallow steps down and again a handrail is fitted.

·         Stair lifts are fitted down to ground floor and to access 1^st floor.

·         The front entrance has 3 sets of steps.

·         Reception is on the ground floor and there is a bell push when you want to speak to us.

Public  Areas

·         Hall, stairs and landings – on entering from the rear car park, room 1 is on the left.  Down 3 steps and on

           this small landing is the telephone.  Up  4 steps and room 2 is on the left.  Turn to go up a flight of stairs

           and room 4 is directly opposite you, up another 3 steps.   Turn right and up 4 steps where rooms  5, 6 and 7

           are situated.

·         The front door width is 30 inches (75cm).   A seat is provided just inside the entrance.   On entering from

           the front door, the dining room is on your right and the bar is situated off the dining room.

·         Reception is clearly marked.

·         There are benches situated at the front and rear of the house for use of guests.

·         All rooms are en suite but no public WC is available.

·         Fire extinguishers are situated on each floor together with emergency evacuation notices.

Dining Room/Bar

·         The dining room is on the ground floor and is accessed from the reception hall.  The width of the door is

           30 inches (75cm).

·         Breakfast is served between 08.30 and 09.45.

·         Evening meals by prior arrangement only.

·         A child’s high chair is available on request.

·         There are varying sizes of tables, seating  2,  4 or 6/8 people.

·         The bar/lounge area is situated off the dining room.  

Bedrooms

·         All rooms are centrally heated, have ceiling fans and the rooms overlooking the rear are double glazed.

·         Beds are made with sheets, bedspreads in the summer and duvets in the winter (bedspreads too if very cold).   

·         All bedrooms have freeview TV with remote controls.

·         Width of all bedroom doors is 30 inches (75cm).

Additional information

·         Dogs are welcomed – we have our own dog.

·         We are a non smoking establishment – ashtrays are fitted by both external doors.

·         Mobile phone reception depends on your service provider.

·         Fire alarm is a constant very loud bell – evacuation notices are in all bedrooms and on landings.

Future plans

·         We are having a rear porch fitted with seating area provided.

·         We are installing a decked area in front of bar door.
